Measuring Author Contributions to the Wikipedia

Seite zum Vortrag im WikiSym-Wiki (Paper).
Einfache Ideen für die Messung: Text amount (gives credit to people who write a lot), Edit count (gives credit to people who works on many things).
"Framing formulas as quality x quantity is useful for clarify the meaning".

Explicit vs. implicit co-authoring (Who are my co-authors).

Entitäten, die analysiert wurden: Artikel, Revision, Author.
Implemented in Mediawiki (sehr gute Möglichkeit, damit Wikinutzer selbstorganisiert potentielle Community-Mitglieder finden können).
Anwendung Expert Finder (Artikel als Startpunkt wählen, auf alle Artikel in gleicher Kategorie expandieren, alle Autoren dieser Seite auswählen, Hauptautoren zusammen mit "nahen" Co-Autoren als (dynamische) Expertenliste anzeigen).

In einem "normalen" Wiki gibt es zwei Arten von Relationen: Kategorien und Links. In einem semantischen Wiki sind die Links zusätzlich typisiert (z.B. statt "hat zu tun mit", "ist-hauptstadt-vom").
Typen von semantischen Wikis: 1. Ontology First (users define schema and then all instances must conform to it) 2. Instance First (users define instances and than the ontology can be arived from it).
Beispiele für semantische Wiki-Software: Playtypus Wiki, Semantic Mediawiki, AceWiki, IkeWiki, KawaWiki, Makna, Rhizome, SweetWiki, WikiSAR, SMW.
Ausgewählt wurde die Mediawiki MOCA extension (semantic quick fix panel, add category wizard, add/edit relation wizard).
Ergebnisse der "Convergence Studies" (unseeded/seede and with/without MOCA):
- seeding and providing tools increases the number of annotations ... but not very much.
- unseeded wiki has fewer structure, but MOCA seems to compensate.
- MOCA doesn't seem to effect reuse of classes or relation types, but seeding does.
- MOCA encourages the creation of structure and the reuse of types but no more than seeding the wiki.
- MOCA is too complexe for novices and too restrictive for experts.
- Novice users rely heavily on cut&paste.
