A Motivating and Enabling Collection: Building Organizational Memory with a Workgroup Wiki

• Referent: Sean Munson (Boeing)
• "Enterprise Wiki: Collection and synthesis of tacit knowledge and group processes".
• Workgroup Wikis and Team Wikis.
• Social exchange for knowledge exchange: economic rewards, increased access to information/reciprocity, career advancement or security, enjoyment of helping others, knowledge self-assessment, (...) (adopted from Orlikowski).
• The iceberg metaphor of explicit/tacit.
• Boeing nutzt Mediawiki mit einem WYSIWYG-Editor. Launch am 01.01.2008 (vorher hat eine kleine Gruppe mit dem Wiki gearbeitet).
• Im Wiki werden auch Patente abgebildet.
• Inhalte sind Projekte (106), Prozesse (8), Patent Pages (139), Indusry data (4), User pages (24), Categories (154), Indices and Templates (17), Images and Files (310).
• Für die Wikinutzer ist es "komisch", den Inhalt von anderen zu ändern bzw. wenn andere etwas am eigenen Inhalt ändern.
• "Sharing tools can increase motivation to document".
• Demotivatoren: Langsame Serverantworten, Zeit, Learning the syntax, Image-centric file uploads (no documents).
• 16 von 27 Gruppenmitgliedern haben ihr eigenes Profil angelegt, 3 davon sehr detaillier.

Visualizing Wiki-Supported Knowledge Builidng

• Model: peoples knowledge cognitive systems (energy is wave-like) and wiki's information social system (energy is particle-like): externalization, internalization, assimilation, accomodation (s.a. Piaget's constructivism).
• Social Network Analysis wurde durchgeführt.
